There are 3 main types of mattresses

1. Hybrid Mattress (Latex) (most recommended)
2. Hybrid Mattress (No-Latex)
3. Foam-Only

Hybrid is deinitely better than Memory Foam-Only

Foam-only mattresses are the least attractive of the lot for most people as:

• Although foam is good for comfort, foam-only mattresses are more likely to be a little bit too soft! If not immediately, then at least in time, as foam tends to soften and sag with use, making them less durable than hybrid models
• Memory foam are simply hotter than latex layers, even if they are infused with cooling-gel, as no matter how innovative a memory foam is: it's still foam! And foam tends to be very effective at trapping heat. Just like no matter how innovative a wooden helmet is, it will still not be as great as one made of hard plastic!

Hybrid vs Foam summary: Hybrid mattresses have better support (making them more comfortable), are more durable and more cooling.

So how do you choose the best hybrid mattress?

Simple, choose one infused with Latex! There's a reason only premium mattresses tend to use latex. Latex is the most cooling material we know of for mattresses. And on top of that, it's more responsive and more supportive than foam

Not all memory foams are made equal.

Foam is good at absorbing movements and relatively good for comfort (after latex), but one of it's biggest downsides is that it traps heat.

One way to minimize this downside, is to look for mattresses with cooling-gel memory foam. The cooling gel makes them better able to transport heat away from the body, minimising night sweats!

Pocket springs are one of those technologies that haven't gone out of fashion as nothing better has come along yet (like the wheel).

Pocket spring technology has advanced dramatically the last few decades, and today's springs help add a nice comfortable bounce to a mattress; make it more durable and are the best choice for a healthy spine, as they are better at keeping the spine aligned through the night (as opposed to foam, which quickly loses its shape).

Latex is decisively the best material for:

• Comfort that lasts - as latex doesn't lose it's shape and is even often picked as the most comfortable material in blind tests!
• Cooling sleep - as latex is great at conducting heat
• Reliable support - as latex is great at keeping it's shape over time
